2009 Newcastle Open

Registration from 9:40a.m., Draw at 10.00a.m.

NB: All details dependant on final number of players.

The 2009 Newcastle Open will be conducted under the following system,

Qualifying rounds: Round Robins. 4 or 8 groups.
If there are 4 groups, first and second will qualify for the 8 player final.
If there are 8 groups, the winner of the 8 round robins go through to the final.
1 point for a win, tiebreaker the WINNER of the round robin match between the tied players. Points SCORED if 3 players tied can't be separated.

Final Rounds: 8 player knockout.

Entry fees: $30 basic entry. $20 Bonus Pool (not compulsory). No Junior tournament this year as we have run out of eligible players!

Prize Money: 100% of entry fees returned as Prize Money, (1st - 4th) plus Trophies 1st and 2nd.

Bonus Pool: The Bonus pool will be won by the highest finishing member of the Pool.
The Pool will be shared amongst those finishing at the same level if both the Winner and second in the tournament are not members of the Pool.

Members Bonus: All 2009 financial members of Newcastle Backgammon Club (as of 30/6/2009) qualify for a $100 value added** award split 70/30 to best and 2nd best finishers. Equal split if 2 or more players are eliminated at the same point.
