Jay Deva of Sydney is the 2008 Australian Open Champion, defeating New Zealander Grant Hoffman 15-12 in 20 games.
Newcastle's Virginia Jones' exciting run came to an end in the Semi Final going down to Grant, 13-6 while Jay beat Melbourne newcomer Simon Ustick in the other Semi.
Other Newcastle trophy winners were Tony Walker and Mick Dyett.
