Turn Annihilation Results - Solaris VII - 3 Lakes Valley

With every to-hit roll automatically resulting in a 12, the final combat phase was something of a disappointment for me, with only 1 'mech destroyed.

(Daniel Cleyne) William Strange & his Warhammer WHM-6D manages to survive the concentrated firepower of Felicity Bowain & Maxwell Drake by a miracle. His battlemech has 6 points of torso armour left, but has lost 2 weapons, a damaged gyro & 2 engine hits & shuts down as the final bell sounds. In response he manages to destroy all Felicity's secondary weapons, only 1 turn away from a kill. Although scoring no points, a credible result by simply surviving the match with that amount of damage.

(Wayne Pollerd) Felicity Bowain loses the entire left side of her Thunderbolt TDR-5SS & any chance of a kill this game. Maxwell Drake managed to rack 3 kills, but tried for 5 while only taking 11 points of damage all game, piloting a Wolverine WVR-6M. Red O'Conner managed to escape death due to only being hit by a large laser & William Strange avoid a kick to the head by falling down prior to the physical attack phase. This was the most kills by a single pilot, accounting for 1/3 of the total casualties.

(Jesse Oechsner) Karl Grimm & Jade Scott had a slow start, but eventually contributed to events by drawing the fire from Big Joe's fateful attack on turn 7 & then destroying Little Joe. They come out of the match with 100% profit, as neither 'mech even had scratched paintwork or ammo to replace.

(Larry Pryor) Odeen Tihald finally paid the price for attempting to use his Grasshopper as a firesupport 'mech at long range. Unfortunately there isn't enough of him left to even put into an envelope, suffering a PPC & 3 laser hits to the head (28 points of damage). This Grasshopper has rapidly developed a reputation for it's defective targetting systems, so hopefully the next pilot won't have the same problem. Hondo Ash survives the game undamaged, inflicting heavy damage on most of his targets. I think he hit at least once every turn he fired, nearly running out of AC10 ammo.

(Joe Duke) Big Joe had an extremely unlucky start, suffering a first turn engine hit agravatted by second turn Inferno's. Surviving the fire from 9 enemy 'mechs (including Little Joe Duke) proves an Orion's effectiveness as a fire magnet & ability to absorb firepower. He unfortunately couldn't deal with Inferno's this game, causing the eventual detonation of missile ammo. Little Joe Duke gave a good impression of rabbit as he attempted to escape last turn, to no avail. He does live to fight another day however (unfortunately for him, so does Big Joe "Tree Lover" Duke).

(Paul Frigo) Yohan Maxwell had a promising start, but was let down by the amount of ammo his 'mech carried (taking 520 points of ammo damage). He was luckier that his partner Sven Reidall who was flashfried, irradiated & then drowned after submerging without rear armour causing a reactor explosion.

(Brian Bell) Red O'Conner & Sean O'Mally piloting identical PXH-1D Phoenix Hawk's spent most of the game lurking around the edges of the combat, finally scoring on the final turn. It looked as if they would get away undamaged until Maxwell Drake headshot Red's 'mech. The following turn, everyone in range opened up severely depleting armour. No one followed up on this, giving them a chance to recover & then cap Odeen Tihald in the water.

(Ben Garfath) Hiroshi Yaeger died to an early headshot from Big Joe Duke, but not before causing the engine damage which eventual destroyed him. Yoshi Tanaga, in a 'mech 2/3 the mass, then proceded to take Big Joe apart with a vengeance at point blank range, before finally succumbing to the weight difference. Having also survived, Yoshi will be a warrior to watch in the coming months.
