Why we need help

Hospital B. Bloom is the only peadiatric hospital at the tertiary level in El Salvador and a public hospital. The hospital receives between 60-100 cases of burnt children needing intensive care per year. Presently, 2 beds are allocated for this care in the Intensive care Unit. Hospital Benjamin Bloom needs 60 beds for children admitted with critical burns. Each child stays aproximately 25 days in the I.C.U with a cost involved of $ 1000 per day.

In addition to I.C.U there is a plastic surgery ward. However, the ward lacks many resources that maiximise the outcomes of children it cares for. The need to seek for extra help arises as a result of families not being able to afford post hospitalization care. This care can be either especial equipment or pressure dressings. Each pressure dressing is $100.00 US in El Salvador and they have to be made in U.S.A. El Salvador does not have the technology yet to have them made there.
