The routes shown on this map tend to
reflect my preferred riding routes when travelling around the local
area. Where possible I ride on roads where traffic issues are
minimised and preferably the safest route, rather than the fastest.
I have tried to identify areas of "high stress" and "low stress", but
these will change with differing times of the day, or just road
conditions. The following should be used as a guide to the routes
and usual road conditions likely to be experienced by a cyclist on the
routes shown with this map. The colours of the following are the
colours represented on the map by the different levels.
Off road routes
may consist of
Low to Moderate
Stress levels associated with on-road routes may consist of
-
marked cycle
lanes;
-
wide roads without
marked cycle lanes;
-
low to moderate
traffic levels on either bitumen or gravel roads; or
-
low to moderate
traffic speed.
Moderate to High
Stress levels associated with on-road routes may consist of
-
narrow marked
cycle lanes of variable width and quality - possibly in the "door"
lane;
-
roundabouts or
other dangerous intersections;
-
narrow roads
without marked cycle lanes;
-
moderate to high
traffic levels; or
-
moderate to high
traffic speed.
The map may take a little longer to
load than others on this site.
