The Time of the Signs is an installation involving the use of six variable message boards (industrial signboards often seen on the side of a freeway warning of roadworks). Each of the participating artists individually programmed these boards with their own text in response to the Livid environment. With the brief "Please explain?", The Time of the Signs returned to LIVID in 2000 after their cryptic debut in 1999. A sight-specific literal installation utilising variable message boards released from their natural environment to say what they like, when they like, for as long as they like. Text: Craig Walsh |
