Acknowlegements:
Researchers on the Cubits and Chilcotts have shared their work
generously, and I have not been good at noting sources. However, much
is owed to Val Trickett, Sue Royce, Jenny Mitchell and Fred Mitchell.
Sue
Royce is happy to be contacted by email at
<sroyce@xtra.co.nz>. Another source was Beris Wilkinson.
Karen Paul's tree on Genes Reunited also filled in some gaps
Thanks to Doris Parsons Miller, OPC for Tintagel
Research Notes
Genes Reunited checked for Ann and Langford
LDS done, cannot find any clues as to where Ann Medling came
from. Ditto FHO
There is an Ann Chilcott in the 1841 census in Tintagel in 1841 (age
not given, head of household, Charwoman - other residents in households
seem to have beeb omitted).
She is not in the 1851 census - more likely to be Langford the son's
wife (Nee Bray)?
Doris Parsons Miller, OPC for Tintagel supplied the following
information
I have checked the Tintagel records I have on
Medling; and found the following entries:
Medlinge, Richard,
Chr.15 June 1714: son of John Medlinge and Mary
Medling, John, Chr.
22 Oct 1721; son of John Medling and Mary
Medling, John, Chr.
28 Sep 1746; son of Richard and Ann
Medling
Medling, Elizabeth,
Chr.14 May 1749; dau. of Richard and Ann
Medling
Medling, Fanny,
Chr. 1 Jul 1753; dau of Richard and Ann
Medling
I found no
other christenings named Medling. It is very likely that your Ann was a
member of this family. The repetition of names was very common at this
time and we find an Ann Medling who is possibly the mother or
grandmother you are looking for.
The timing seems to favour grandparents? (Les
Rowley)
