On the Queen’s Birthday long weekend in June each year the 6 ice hockey member states—Australian Capital Terrtory, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Victoria, and Western Australia—bring together their best players for the National Women’s Championship. The 2008 Tournament was held in Newcastle from June 5-8. For the most part, the games were very close, including two round robins shootouts. The results were: GOLD—NSW SILVER—QLD BRONZE—SA For detailed stats on this and past tournaments click here. Ice Hockey Australia has recently announced that the 2009 tournament will be held in Queensland.
