Rachel has just completed composing the music for a documentary titled 'Mimili', about an Aboriginal community in outback Australia. Beautifully shot and directed by Simone Mazengarb with financial support from the South Australian Film Commission, the film was commissioned for the Little Big Shots international film festival for kids and will be used as part of a DVD package for schools.
Rachel is currently being mentored by leading Australian film and tv composer Guy Gross, as part of the Media Mentorship Programme being run by WIFT (Women In Film and Television). The mentorship is a valuable opportunity for Rachel to learn skills from Guy and take advantage of his years of experience in orchestrating and composing for feature films, children's television and documentaries.
In other recent news, Rachel is a finalist in the APRA 2009 Professional Development Awards, in the Film and TV Category. Winners are announced in Sydney in March 2009.
