PRESIDENT'S REPORT
Newcastle Backgammon in 2011 was mostly about Mick
Dyett and his stellar efforts worldwide.
NSW Open,
Sydney Monthly Comp and most importantly, Newcastle Club Champion, could only
have been topped off with a longer run in the First International
Backgammon
Championship. Mick’s 134 points in the CC, winning 14 of 19 played nights, is
one of the biggest scores of recent times if not an all-time record.
Rachel
Cathcart’s second in the Newcastle Open was another highlight of the year.
The Open was
also notorious for an unfortunate ruckus which was neither usual nor welcome and
steps will have to be put in place to ensure a repeat never happens.
The Open
attendance was on a par with previous years.
Club
competition nights were regularly around the 15 mark. 27 people played at least
1 night but of those 5 played less than 3 nights.
Thanks go to
Michelle Taubman, Greg Hern and Bruce Parr for their efforts with board keeping
and supply of results for those nights I was absent during the year.
Unfortunately, mainly due to work commitments, I will be missing 4-6 meetings
again this year based on the calendar I have finally outlined for the coming
year.
Best of luck to all in 2012.
Robert Disney

TREASURER'S REPORT
The
treasurer's report showed an overall loss for the year of $100.90 which, when
you consider almost $700 was spent on the Dinner, Newcastle
