Right now, I'm doing a Bachelor of Arts degree at
La Trobe University (LTU),
in Melbourne, Australia. I'm majoring in philosophy, with
some history and art history on the side. I am scheduled to finish
this degree with honours at the end of 2004.
My primary area of interest is in the history and philosophy
of science.

I was born in Canberra in 1980. I moved to Brisbane in 1994, where I
completed high school at
MacGregor SHS.
I graduated from the
Queensland University of Technology
(QUT) with a bachelor's degree in Information Technology in 2001,
with majors in software engineering and data communications.
After spending a semester working at
Powerlink QLD as a
C++ programmer, I moved down to Melbourne in order to further my
education.

Programming languages -
My weapon of choice is C / C++. I've been involved in one major
C++ based project, which was a custom database application. This
project also incorporated the use of SQL and the FLTK widget toolkit,
and ran in a Unix environment. I'm also quite familiar with Java,
Perl and Pascal.
-
Operating systems -
I'm a Linux user. I run Debian
on my desktop and my gateway, and
Mandrake on my laptop.
I've been using some variant of Linux consistently since around the
end of 1998. I've set up Linux machines as Samba, DHCP and
NAT servers in various business environments.
I'm also competent with anything from the MS-DOS / MS Windows ``family''
and Macintosh operating systems.
-
Networking -
I'm familiar with various networking protocols (TCP/IP, PPP, etc.)
and technologies, and
have deployed them in small-scale (< 30 machine) environments.
-
Document preparation - I'm quite familiar with the LaTeX document preparation
system (all documents in the essays section were made using it.)
