SGII - Infantry Support Walkers

The Thylacine & Devil Infantry Walkers were designed by the OU as a mobile weapon platform to support special forces or troops in mountainous areas.

Using Infantry Walkers in Stargrunt:
Infantry walkers are treated as any other vehicle in Stargrunt, except that they can Close Assault infantry & be Close Assaulted.
All normal rules apply except that Walkers cause TERROR & receive a x2 CA bonus.
Any infantry figure beating the Walker's roll, can attempt to destroy it by rolling their quality die as for a MAJOR HIT using pointfire weaponry. (ie. regular infantry roll d8x2 to penetrate the armour). This simulates placing grenades & weapon fire into vulnerable areas.
Infantry take normal casualties from failure to defeat the walker.

They can also be used to CA other vehicles, but this can be risky as most vehicles are larger & are capable of grinding a walker into scrap by driving over them. The CA is resolved using the normal rules (but vehicles don't retreat if they fail their Morale check) but non-walkers CANNOT initiate a CA. The walker rolls Q vs the vehicle's Q. The only modifier that applies is In Position. The winner rolls their Q die against the loser as for a MINOR HIT multiplied by their size class (ie. a Veteran size 4 vehicle rolls d10 x 4 to penetrate the walker). This gives tanks a chance to run the attacker over if they see them coming, or fire point blank as a desparate measure.

- Armour: Front 1, Side/Rear 1; Reactive Armour (Armour 2 vs GMS/IAVR)
- Weaponry: DFFG/2 with Superior Firecon (FC:d10, I:d12x4*)
- SAW (FP:d8, I:d10), MLP (3 rounds) (FP:d8, I:d8*).
- Other: smoke launchers, Enhanced ECM (d8).

Thylacine Infantry Support Walker/Line (Assault Hunter Heavy Gear)
- Size 1, Stealth 1. Effective signature: Size 1 (12" range bands)
- Movement: Infantry Walker (12"/d12x2)
- Armour: Front 1, Side/Rear 1; Reactive Armour (Armour 2 vs GMS/IAVR)
- Weaponry: HEL/2 with Superior Firecon (FC:d10, I:d8x2*)
- SAW (FP:d8, I:d10), Automatic Grenade Launcher (FP:d12, I:d8*)
- Other: smoke launchers, Enhanced ECM (d8).


Support Walker TO&E

A normal walker patrol is led by a Thylacine command walker, with 3 line walkers completing the normal complement.
Infantry walkers are only deployed in High Threat Urban enviroments or jungle, where their mobility & armour can have a major effect on the battle. Only in desparate circumstances would they be deployed on the open battlefield; against a main battletank in the open, their life expectancy is only measured in seconds.
(NB: this should be the equivalent of a normal platoon in the SGII TOEs. If any infantry are carrying pointfire weaponry, the walker's life expectancy is drastically shortened).
