Women's MinistryThere are many women in the parish who are active in ministry in both the local and wider church. Locally, we have concentrated our efforts in three main areas:-
These include dinners (formal and informal) and coffee and dessert evenings.
These include bridge building activities such as a Christmas Craft Demonstration which attracted 100 people last year. This will be an annual event - this year it will be held in November.
We are involved in Bible Studies, prayer groups and triplets and our caring and sharing ministry. In the wider church some of our members have participated in events organized by World Day of Prayer, Mother’s Union and the Katoomba Women’s Convention.Men's MinistryMen's Ministry at St John's aims to create forums for the men of the parish to meet informally to share and encourage in a relaxed atmosphere. Friday evening BBQ's, or informal meal during the winter, are held quarterly; occasionally a more structured evening on a specific related topic may be held; a group attendance to the Katoomba Men's Convention in late February with an overnight stay is an annual event; father-and-son days are occasionally held at a sporting fixture for example, or a walk. Events are well supported, the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, and newcomers are most welcome. Adult Friendship GroupWhat is it? Members of the parish explain a hobby, activity in their
life about which they have a special interest. Presentations have included : bee
keeping, books authored by a parishioner; bonsai, experiences with refugees in
Australia; walk around Beecroft; fun night; an Elizabethan night; Sunday
concert.
